Horoeka (Lancewood) is a unique native of Aotearoa. Juvenile trees have sawblade like leaves that eventually soften and round with age. The theory goes that they evolved these teeth-like barbs as a defense mechanism against browsing Moa. Their weaponized leaves are a great symbol of the strength and beauty found in nature.
