Who runs Dunedin Online?
Founded in 2013
Dunedin Online was established in 2013 by Emily Cooper and Sam Clarkson, with a simple but powerful idea: to showcase Dunedin’s local traders and online businesses, especially those quietly doing great things under the radar.
From the beginning, the site focused on supporting local enterprise, encouraging online growth, and making it easier to discover and support Dunedin based businesses. Over the years, Dunedin Online evolved alongside the local business community, introducing new features and initiatives while staying true to its purpose.
2025 and beyond
In 2025, after more than a decade running Dunedin Online, Emily and Sam decided it was time to step back and pass the site on.
Sarah Williams and her partner Chris Noye stepped in to carry it forward.
Together, they run Noisy Brewing Co and Highness, two Dunedin businesses built from the ground up. They understand the reality of small business here. The long weeks, the quiet days, the risk, the resilience, and the constant balancing act between work and life while raising a young child alongside it all.
This is us, and our why
Chris and Sarah know firsthand what it means to build something while trying to keep everything else steady at the same time.
Taking on Dunedin Online was not about reinventing it. It was about strengthening something that already serves the local business community by creating more visibility, more connection, and a stronger sense that none of us are doing this alone.
Their focus is simple. Support small businesses, celebrate the work happening here, and make it easier for Dunedin locals to find and back independent operators.
Today, Dunedin Online remains a curated guide to the businesses, places, and experiences that make the city what it is, shaped by the people who choose to be part of it and grounded in a genuine commitment to local enterprise.
