There’s a new experimental art and music space blossoming in Ōtepoti Dunedin. Meet Bloom.

Bloom is a space for workshops, gatherings and community-led events, shaped by a group of friendly and inspiring artists, musicians, performers of all kinds, and their wider circle.

We were especially excited to learn that Bloom is housed in a relocated 1925 South Seas Exhibition building. It was once used as a cabaret hall and is one of the last few exhibition buildings still standing, which makes the whole space feel even more special.

Bloom is still in its early days, but there has already been so much happening, with plenty more on the agenda. We’ve personally attended gigs there, including an awesome all-ages, 12-hour opening day show, as well as a “Art & Sound Playground” for our tamariki, which included pottery with the talented Zehavit, painting with Raven, and music with Jonny, Dave and Peter.

You’ll also find weekly yoga classes, kids’ after-school pottery sessions, gigs, exhibitions and more as the space continues to grow in Ōtepoti.
